France reported E.coli contamination cases
The Health Ministry of France announced that another eight cases of E.coli sickness were reported at a Bordeaux hospital. According to the officials that investigated every one of the possible sick people, six of them had eaten a soup with sprouts, tomatoes, onion and cucumber because they were on a visit there. The tests shows that two other people hospitalized have hemolytic uremic syndrome and one root at the bacteria that was investigated at the laboratory showed that is the same one that caused the E.coli epidemic in Europe. The conclusion from those cases in Bordeaux is that the responsibility for the epidemic was the sprouts. In the entire Europe there are some discussions about the E.coli cases and the necessity of a possible European Alert on that issue.

More, the France cases are raising again the worries about the need for such a preventive alert in order to put an end to the E.coli contamination spreading, according to a report of the European Committee from Sunday, cited by AFP. A spokesman of the European Committee said that in this moment there isn’t an official alert regarding the E.coli contamination that would be equivalent with the forbidden of commercialization of the germinated seeds that are the cause for the E.coli disease. He said though that in this moment there are discussion on this matter with France, Great Britain and Germany. The recent discussions are a repercussion of the Bordeaux cases, because of the spreading fear of the E.coli bacteria that made already 43 deaths all over Europe, especially in Germany. The French authorities said that the people hospitalized had for lunch seeds of fenugreek, mustard and rucola from a store in Jardinland and the provider is the British company from Ipswich, Thompson & Morgan.
France took the necessary measures to cut the commercialization of this company’s products on the country and asked the British authorities fo find the product’s origins and to take the necessary measures in this cases. The European Union spokesman said that if the provider exported the seed in several European countries, there is a strong possibility that the European alert to be triggered. On the other sand, Thompson & Morgan gave their official statement on the matter and said that they were informed about everything and in their opinion, probably the Bordeaux experts are responsible because it is a strong connection of the way the seeds were handled and grown. More, they gave guaranties to the British authorities that they will fully cooperate with the authorities in order to find the E.coli contamination source.
